‘Herdsmen, Cattle Now Enjoy The Same Immunity As Presidents & Vice Presidents’ – Benue Governor

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State says the immunity from 
prosecution enjoyed by the President and Vice-President as provided by 
the constitution, appears to be applicable to herdsmen and their cattle 
now.

Ortom said this when he reacted to the statement made by the Minister
 of Defence, Mansur Dan Ali, who on Thursday January 25, stated that the
 anti-open grazing law was largely responsible for the herdsmen killings
 around the country.

“These people (herdsmen) are Nigerians. It is just like one going to 
block shoreline, does that make sense to you? These are the remote 
causes of the crisis,” the minister had said.

Reacting to the Minister’s comment, the Benue state governor said it 
is “an insult to the sensibility of Nigerians” for the Minister to say 
such. He lamented that the federal government valued the lives of cattle
 more than humans.

I heard a statement credited to the Minister of Defense, saying the 
killings in Benue were as a result of the anti-open grazing law. I can’t
 see him saying that kind of thing. If he said so, I would have asked 
him what he has done about Fulani herdsmen going about with AK47s. I 
will not surrender my land to foreigners. You can go and do that in your
 own state. It’s sad that those who are supposed to be assisting the 
President have instead, turned round to misinform him, all for their 
selfish interests.

As a state, we are ready to accommodate those who are genuine and 
come to our state legally, whether foreigners, to do business. But if 
you are in Benue, you must respect the laws of the land. I see the 
statement as an insult to the collective leadership and sensibility of 
the people of Nigeria, for a minister of defence to ask Nigerians to 
accommodate foreigners who illegally enter the country to cause 
problems. I am now beginning to see that they have given immunity that 
is the prerogative of President, Vice-President, governors and deputy 
governors to herdsmen, who kill and to their cattle. Cattle in Nigeria 
now have more immunity than humans. This is very unfortunate.” he told 
newsmen in Makurdi, the state capital.

The world’s tallest man and the world’s shortest woman have met up in Egypt.

Sultan Kosen, from Turkey, is the tallest man on earth, according to 
the Guinness World Records, towering over the rest of us at a height of 8
 feet 1 inch.

Jyoti Amge, from India, by contrast holds the title for world’s shortest woman at just over 2 ft tall.

The mismatched pair posed in front of the historic Giza Pyramids in 
Cairo, Egypt, today after being invited by the Egyptian Tourism 
Promotion Board.

The two Guinness World Records holders will be touring Cairo’s most 
famous touristic sites, in addition to taking part in a conference in 
the Fairmont Nile City hotel, Cairo.

Both record-holders won their records in 2011.

Kosen, 35, was first measured in Ankara, Turkey in 2011 and was the 
first to be measured by Guinness in over 20 years, according to the 
Guinness World Records official website.

Guinness World Records only has 10 confirmed people in history to reach 8 ft or more.

A Lagos state magistrate court has barred actress Tonto Dikeh from featuring her son on her new reality show.

The injunction which was given on 31st January, 2018 is based on a 
suit the father, Olakunle Churchill filled against his ex-wife, saying 
he doesn’t want his son to be unduely exposed and exploited by the 
mother, Tonto Dikeh.

Churchill had approached the court to protect their son “from undue 
indecent exposure and exploitation by the actress for personal gain and 
fame”.

He prayed to the court that his son be regarded as a minor who is not fit to make a decision for himself. ‎

An interim court injunction issued Wednesday restrained the actress 
from “airing, showing, disseminating or broadcasting any name, face, 
image, likeness or picture of King Andrea Omodayo Igo Churchill in the 
King Tonto Reality TV Show”.

The court injunction will be in place pending the hearing of the originating motion in the suit.
